Being sensitive to the existing site was a major force in the design of this residence. Dividing the whole site into 3 terraces was the approach for the landscape design of the site. The lower terrace kept the existing perennial trees on site and added an outdoor playground to the area. The intermediate terrace was kept open and clear for outdoor events and family gatherings. The higher terrace with the most exposure to the surroundings was the location of the residence. Surrounded by the heavy trees of the site, the building was kept open and transparent to the outdoor greenery. Not only did it stay open, but it also expanded the landscape to the indoor spaces of the house with an indoor swimming pool giving the living room area a combined indoor and outdoor experience.
